Biography

Jenny Marasti is an accomplished orchestral percussionist with over 15 years of experience specializing in classical symphonic playing. While orchestral percussion is Jenny's primary focus today, her musical journey began behind a jazz drum set, a foundation that continues to shape her dynamic style and versatility.
Originally from Merced, California, Jenny earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Education from California State University Stanislaus, and went on to complete a Master of Music at The Colburn Conservatory. Committed to refining her artistry, she spent five years in Boston studying under renowned Boston Symphony percussionists Will Hudgins, Kyle Brightwell, and Tim Genis.
In 2022, Jenny was awarded a prestigious fellowship with the New World Symphony. During this time, she was hailed by South Florida Classical Review for “playing with darting energy and a nuanced musicality” — praise that reflects both their technical excellence and deep artistic sensitivity. Now based in Miami, Jenny gigs actively with ensembles throughout the region and performs with symphonies across the country.

A dedicated educator, Jenny shares their passion for percussion through an educational YouTube channel. She creates accessible instructional videos for young percussionists, focusing on those who may not have regular access to private teachers or well-equipped studios.
Beyond the concert hall and the classroom, Jenny is also an innovator, designing and crafting ergonomic bags, protective cases, and other thoughtful products to make life easier for classical and chamber percussionists alike.
Whether performing on stage, mentoring the next generation, or developing tools to support fellow musicians, Jenny Marasti is driven by a deep commitment to the art and craft of percussion.
Outside of music, Jenny enjoys board games, crocheting, gardening, and taking care of her pet corn snake, Cranberry Walnut Muffin.
